I can understand how some people would be intimidated by a watch like the Jacob & Co. Billionaire. It does take a degree of bravery (not just financially) to consider even putting it on the wrist. Not everyone is comfortable with the type of attention and persona that it will convey. That is a major responsibility, and items such as this which exude decadence and luxury are the closest things to magical items that exist in the real world. There is a very real magical effect that the power of the Jacob & Co. Billionaire watch will have on all the people around you - whether or not that is light magic or dark magic.
Most other rose gold-toned Frédérique Constant watches are gold-plated - which ends up being totally fine for the price. If 18k rose gold isn't something you are keen to wear (or pay for), the polished steel version of the Frédérique Constant Manufacture Heart Beat FC-945 is a sound choice. The watch case is further water resistant to 50 meters and has an AR-coated sapphire crystal on the front and rear.
After the hiatus of the last few weeks – which was primarily a result of some hectic travel schedules – Ariel and John are finally back with a new episode of The HourTime Show. In it, the two discuss the usability and popularity of the Apple Watch – that Ariel received just a day before recording this episode; the new Rolex Yachtmaster and the manufacture's new, very stringent in-house testing; the fabulous new Omega Ploprof; and last but not least: John's new book!
We don't mean to imply that people must spend four, five, or six figures on a wrist watch in order to have a good timepiece experience. We do, however, imply that those are the watches that, to us, tend to be the most interesting. Wrist watches today are either extremely utilitarian or a type of luxury, as humankind doesn't strictly need them for the same reasons, or at the same level we once did. This means that people who choose to learn about and become familiar with watches, are those who want interesting items which they feel are worth their time. Given the amazingly vast and interesting world of high-end watches, it would be difficult to focus only on less expensive items that pale in comparison.
>Model: Space Discovery
>Size: 45mm wide
>Would reviewer personally wear it: Sometimes
>Friend we'd recommend it to first: Astronaut, guy who thinks he is an astronaut, or guy who really wants to be an astronaut.
>Best characteristic of watch: Successfully executes a rather complicated concept in making a timepiece that is both niche and highly approachable.
>Worst characteristic of watch: Incredibly niche audience who can fully appreciate all its functionality. Where do you store one module when using the other? Fit and finish could be better given high price.
When Breguet puts their mind to something, the result is typically very impressive. The brand isn’t too open about their internal research and development, but they are among the few producers of classically-inspired watches that nevertheless utilize interesting and often new mechanical technology. If you are familiar with the basic concept of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre, you will more or less understand the idea behind having two separate drive trains to power the part of the watch that indicates the time and the part of the watch that offers complications. The Breguet Tradition Chronograph Independent starts with a single mainspring system that powers a separate gear train and escapement for the time and for the chronograph. Each of the balance wheels spin at a different rate with a 5Hz balance for the chronograph and a 3Hz balance for the time. It all looks beautiful and is a treat to wear on the wrist for those who love watches because they love mechanical movements. Price for the Breguet Tradition Chronograph Independent 7077 is ,900 in 18k rose gold and $79,700 in 18k while gold.

Montblanc has previously announced a price of 250 Euros for the e-Strap as a separate option if purchased without a timepiece, and it is further possible that the Montblanc e-Strap will come standard on certain Timewalker Urban Speed watches. What we have yet to discover is how well the e-Strap works as an electronic smart device (of course Montblanc used technology partners to design and build it), and how people integrate them into a larger watch-loving lifestyle. montblanc.com
Given the price point – ,300 on the rubber strap and ,600 on the ceramic bracelet – one does expect high quality components all around. Despite the high-tech case, what first stood out for me was the sleek, glossy look of the dial, with only the indices and the peripheries of the subdials lending it some extra depth. Despite the relatively straightforward design, the dial has a number of different "looks" that I tried to capture with the two images above.
A quick scan of the current Zenith El Primero helps to explain the choice of a 45mm case. While there are many options at 42mm, the 45mm sizing has been mostly reserved for for more expensive pieces like Stratos Flyback Rainbow or the Chronomaster Bullitt. If you prefer your watches on the larger side, it's hard to argue a solid chronograph that adds uncommon (to Zenith) features like screw-down crowns and 200m water resistance.

9. MET START - Mission Time: This function allows the start of liftoff countdown. Upon liftoff, acceleration-measurement is begun automatically, and current G-force is displayed. Once acceleration measurement ceases, the display shifts to present current MET (Mission Elapsed Time). This function is based on the NASA protocol 101 that they are using for countdown to liftoff. The Astronauts are interested to follow the G-forces that they are being exposed to during liftoff and also during re-entry. The maximum value is stored and displayed. After the maximum G-Force is displayed, the watch will show MET - Mission Elapsed Time - which is the time that they are using on board during their mission.
How do you feel about the power reserve indicator that is on the movement? It is very easy to miss, as its matching color makes it a bit of a complication chameleon. Nevertheless, the addition of a power reserve indicator is very much welcome, especially given the long power reserve of the movement. The icing on the cake is the attractive amount of hand-engraving all over the visible parts of the movement. The decoration style is subtle enough, without making the movement look like an expensive doily. Yet it also adds value to the watch's prestige overall.
The decision of whether to get the updated Tudor Pelagos in black, or in the new blue is going to be difficult for people - especially if they have an existing model. To update it with a newer model is reasonable, but completely based on whether or not the person getting it is doing so for the added color or the new movement. If it is the latter, their outgoing Pelagos is probably going to be OK to stick with, unless they are the type of person who always must have the best in mechanical stuff.
